P50 是State Marker?還是Trait Marker?

認為P50是trait marker的文章非常多:在慢性病患、未用藥的病患、初次發作的病患、未發病的一級親屬、分裂病性人格疾患者身上,都可以發現P50 suppression之缺損。這些缺損型態相似,而且各組之差異不大,顯示P50 suppression異常可能來自於共同的遺傳因素,是一種trait marker

Potential neural generators of P50

下面這篇Psychophysiology 2010,是UCLA的CINDY  YEE團隊:針對STG, hippocampus, DLPFC, and thalamus四個區域所進行的研究

Distinct neural generators of sensory gating in schizophrenia

一樣是STG, hippocampus, DLPFC, and thalamus四個區域所進行的研究:Robert Freedman的團隊在Increased hemodynamic response in the hippocampus, thalamus and prefrontal cortex during abnormal sensory gating in schizophrenia(2007 Schizophrenia Research)發現

Compared to healthy comparison subjects, patients with schizophrenia exhibited greater activation in the hippocampus, thalamus, and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) during the fMRI sensory gating task. No group difference was observed in the superior temporal gyrus.

不過,下面這一篇New Mexican 團隊The neural networks underlying auditory sensory gating(2008 NeuroImage):則發現there was no evidence of hippocampal involvement

The problem/downside of P50

雖然自 1997. Linkage of a neurophysiological deficit in schizophrenia to a chromosome 15 locus. PNAS.這一篇推波助瀾後,Robert Freedman跟Ann Olincy等人鼓吹之下目前有相當多的P50研究,但是P50的確有許多問題:
